on the AT90S8515/ATmega8515 processor.
AVR8515FB schematic (.pdf), layout (.pdf), and parts list.
Atmel AT90S8515 or ATmega8515 8 bit RISC microcontroller.
8-Kbyte In-System programmable Flash Program Memory, 544 byte internal SRAM, 512 Byte EEPROM.
Up to 8 MIPS throughput at 8 MHz.
Dallas DS1306 real time clock with battery backup.
Compact size 3.8" X 1.5".
Built in serial port and reset button.
LCD display interface, HD44780 compatible.
STK200 compatible 10 Pin programming port.
All I/O pins of micro are silkscreened labeled and brought out to .1" space headers for easy external connections.
Professional quality board with silkscreen.
Requires external 8-12 volt DC supply.
The AVR8515FB was designed to take advantage of the many free AVR assemblers and compilers available on the web as well as any commercial versions.
We recommend and use Imagecraft ICCAVR C compiler.
There is also a "free for personal use" BASIC compiler available. RVK-Basic was featured in a series of "howto" articles in Nuts & Volts magazine.
WinAVR is the free windows Gnu GCC compiler. This a very good C compiler.
There is also SmallC for AVR available for free. We haven't tested this yet.
For info about other compilers available for the AVR, check out AVRfreaks.
Any STK200 compatible programming software can be used to program the AVR. The freely available PonyProg programmer works well.
